1. Yard and garden: 15 minutes
Optional Supplies: For this activity you can either use the pictures on your screen below or print off the visuals of the yard and garden.
How about turning your classroom into a garden of Spanish wonders? If you download and print the visuals of the yard and garden, tape them on a wall in your classroom. Play the audio file and point to the pictures of the yard and garden as they are taught in Spanish. Encourage your students to repeat the words with the audio file. Repeat this activity a few times during the week and each time put a student in charge of pointing to the pictures. This works even better if they get to use a magic pointer or wand to point to the pictures.
Challenge your bookworm buddies to pair up the garden flashcards with their matching pictures. The cards and images are like a colorful puzzle with matching borders, waiting to be solved - easy peasy lemon squeezy!

2. My book about the yard/garden: 45 minutes
Optional Supplies: Download a copy of the book for all of your students
Transform your little learners into bilingual wordsmiths and artists! Watch them beam with joy as they color their own magical book that includes the wonders of the yard and garden. Be sure to bind or staple their creations together. Once the masterpiece is complete, dive into a reading session together. Then, prepare them to dazzle their parents by reading aloud the Spanish words from their special book! They can work on their books for 15 minutes a day or complete them in one sitting.
Grammar Note: There is a grammar lesson involved in this book :-) singular and plural nouns. If you are new to Spanish, a rule of thumb is the following:
Nouns that end in a vowel take an "s" to make them plural. (plant - plants) = planta - plantas
Nouns that end in a consonant take an "es" to make them plural. (flower - flowers) = flor - flores
Also, the word "the" in Spanish has a plural form, unlike in English. "la" which means "the" needs an "s" and becomes "las" when it comes before a plural noun. So, "la planta" (the plant) becomes "las plantas" (the plants) when it is plural or there is more than one.

SHARE YOUR DSA STORY!
Every time we get your WINS AND SUCCESSES in our inbox, we can’t help but do a little happy dance — to "Don't Stop Believing" or "La Bamba" of course!
Why? Because success doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Your wins are our wins, and they’re proof for others that when you do the work, you get results.
Whether your students are finally beginning to repeat or sing in Spanish along with the digital lessons, or say words in Spanish during the day, or teachers are feeling more confident carrying out the Easy Review Activities, or parents are sharing that their child is speaking Spanish at home — we want to hear your wins BIG and small!
Celebrating you always,
Theresa & Team HOLA
