1. june calendar time: 5 minutes
Supplies Needed: June calendar. Use your classroom calendar or print off the June calendar to the left.
Now you can turn calendar time into a bilingual bonanza! Show your students the June calendar. Encourage them to count in English, then in Spanish from 1-30. Next, play the Spanish in June (Numbers 1-30) audio file to spice up the counting activity!
Turn this into a student led activity and you will have kiddos competing to be called on! This is how it goes down in my classroom: I like to let students take turns holding my "magic wand", come to the front of the class, and point to numbers 1-10 as we sing along with the audio file. Then I pause the song and that student picks another student who is quiet to hold the magic wand and come up and point as we sing numbers 11-20, and a third student gets to point to numbers 21-31 as the entire class sings the numbers along with the catchy tune! Who knew numbers could spark such a lively classroom jam session? |
2. Make Number Flashcards: 20 minutes PER SET
Supplies Needed: Download, make copies, and cut flashcards. One set per student.
In May, the spotlight was on numbers 1-10 with flashcards, but if time slipped away, fear not! This week, dive into the world of numbers with your students. Depending on their Spanish counting skills, you might venture into numbers 11-20, 21-30, or even 31-40! Let the numbers dance in your classroom as students create their own flashcards for a numerically fun week ahead. Get those brains buzzing with numbers in class, with friends, and even at home using these flashcards! Play the audio files to jam while practice each set of numbers.
SHARE YOUR DSA STORY!
Every time we get your WINS AND SUCCESSES in our inbox, we can’t help but do a little happy dance — to "Don't Stop Believing" or "La Bamba" of course!
Why? Because success doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Your wins are our wins, and they’re proof for others that when you do the work, you get results.
Whether your students are finally beginning to repeat or sing in Spanish along with the digital lessons, or say words in Spanish during the day, or teachers are feeling more confident carrying out the Easy Review Activities, or parents are sharing that their child is speaking Spanish at home — we want to hear your wins BIG and small!
Celebrating you always,
Theresa & Team HOLA
