1. Coloring Sheet: 10 minutes
Below is a fun birthday coloring sheet you can print off for your students. They will use their fine motor skills by tracing the lines. They will use their creativity by coloring the cakes, and they will use their language skills by practicing how to say "Happy Birthday" in Spanish, "Cumpleaños Feliz".
Display the coloring sheets on a bulletin board in your classroom or on your fridge at home for all to admire! Also practice saying birthdays in Spanish. If you are not sure how, watch the February - Week 4 Virtual Spanish Lesson. |
2. Happy Birthday: 5-10 MINUTES
In my Spanish classes, I play the birthday song over and over. Each time we pretend it is a different student's birthday and we plug their name into the song. Children love singing this joyful tune, especially when everyone pretends it is their birthday and their name is sung during the song! Download the visual of the song and point to tthe lyrics as you sing. If you have a birthday hat in your classroom, let your kiddos taking turn wearing it as they pretend it is their birthday and everyone sings Happy Birthday to them in Spanish!
Fun Fact: In Spanish they say, "Birthday Happy" (Cumpleaños Feliz) pronounced (Koom-pleh-ah-nyos Feh-lees) reversing the words from how we say "Happy Birthday" in English. |
Share Your Wins!
Every time we get your WINS AND SUCCESSES in our inbox, we can’t help but do a little happy dance — to "Don't Stop Believing" or "La Bamba" of course! Why? Because success doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Your wins are our wins, and they’re proof for others that when you do the work, you get results.
Whether your students are finally beginning to repeat or sing in Spanish along with the online videos, or say random words in Spanish throughout the day, or teachers are feeling more confident carrying out the follow-up activities, or parents are sharing that their child is saying words in Spanish at home — we want to hear your wins BIG and small!
Celebrating you always,
Theresa & Team HOLA
