The Great EIGHT Spanish 'Mealtime' Kit is the first in the series. It comes with 3 books and 5 CD's:
BOOK 1: The Navigator (242 pages) is a step-by-step guidebook. It navigates parents and teachers through The Great EIGHT Stages and how to use them to naturally learn and teach their children to understand and speak Spanish, one word and phrase at a time. The Navigator includes 96 picture and word flashcards of common foods, 13 mealtime songs, lyrics & sheet music and 8 language games, plus lots of personal advice form the author.
BOOK 2: The Language Laptop (150 pages) is designed to open like a laptop computer making it easy to use at the table, on the floor and on the go. It is your "dictionary" of mealtime words and phrases. Parents and teachers begin by learning and teaching their children to say the Spanish alphabet followed by 96 mealtime words.
Next the Language Laptop empowers parents and teachers to speak to their children using mealtime phrases from each of The Great EIGHT Stages. Children quickly learn to understand and speak the useful phrases too, gradually turning family and school mealtimes into Spanish conversation time!
Each page of the Language Laptop is recorded as a separate track on the pronunciation CD's so parents and teachers learn and model correct pronunciation.
BOOK 3: The Behind the Scenes Guide (179 pages) features real-life stories from the Author's home and how she and her husband use The Great EIGHT Stages to raise their children bilingually in English and Spanish and how she and her staff use The Great EIGHT Stages everyday in classrooms of all ages. You are sure to enjoy her funny and eye-opening anecdotes in The Behind the Scene's Guide!
CD's:
Pronunciation CDs (3): These CD's accompany the Language Laptop so parents and teachers can listen to how each word and phrase should sound, modeling and teaching correct pronunciation to their children or students.
Song CDs (2): These CD's contain 13 mealtime songs-some of them are based on familiar children's tunes. Each song is sung by a mom and a dad. Song CD 1 is at a slower tempo for beginners. Song CD 2 is at a faster tempo for more advanced learners.
*Note: The Great EIGHT Mealtime Kit is a digital order. When you purchase The Great EIGHT Mealtime Kit you will receive an email with one PDF file for each of the (3) books and an mp3 file for each track on the pronunciation CDs and songs CDs. They download fast onto your computer. You can easily print the books on your own printer or you can have them printed at a store such as Staples, Office Max, Minute Man Press, etc. or another local printing company in your area. Be sure to use good quality paper especially for the Language Laptop as you will be using that a lot!I I suggest whether you print the books or have them printed that you have them bound for you with a spiral binding. The cost for this is minimal but it will make it so much easier to use the books.
You can burn the mp3s onto CDs right from your computer. It does not take long at all.
At a local craft store I suggest you buy an inexpensive easel to prop your Language Laptop like a laptop computer. You can see pictures of the easel I use in the last downloadable file you will receive. I purchased my easel at a local craft store.
