september Week 4: EASY breezy review
You're all set to dive into some fun review activities to brush up on the Spanish vocab that was introduced in the digital lesson! Even if you don’t know a word of Spanish, you can confidently teach fun and easy Spanish review activities to your students! You'll be amazed at how quickly you and your students pick up new vocabulary and phrases, all while having a great time. So dive in and enjoy the journey of teaching Spanish with ease and enthusiasm! Depending on your schedule this week, you could roll out one, two, or all three of these engaging review activities. Let the language adventure begin!
1: sing "Las ruedas del camión": 15 minutes
Materials Needed: Download and print the following nine visulas to the song: "The Wheels on the Bus"
Get ready to have some fun! The goal is to have all of your students acting out and singing along to the song; "Las Ruedas del Camión" with you. Before you hit play, review the actions you learned in the digital lesson—your action "cheat sheet" is below! Everytime you sing a verse, be sure to hold up the visual that coincides with the verse.
Let’s turn this into a little competition. Try saying, “Who can make the *biggest* tires, or *ruedas*, using their pointer fingers?” Watch how quickly your students will jump in, trying to outdo each other! Don't forget to cheer them on and comment on their tire-action skills. While everyone is making their giant tires, sing the verse together in Spanish.
Repeat this for each verse, challenging them to bring their best moves every time! Once you've practiced the whole song, it's time for the grand finale: play the song on Apple Music (see the button below) and have everyone sing and act it out together. (Remember to hold up the visuals as you sing the song.) The more over-the-top you are with acting out the verses, the more your students will get into it too! Now, let’s see those actions and hear those voices!

2. Magic tap sing-along: 15 minutes
Here’s a fun follow-up activity to keep the energy going after singing the song! Gather your students in a circle on the floor and place the visuals from "Las Ruedas del Camión" in the center. Hand a magic wand to one of the students and explain the game: you’ll act out and sing a verse from the song in Spanish, and their job is to tap the picture that matches the verse.
(They’ll likely get it right every time with your actions as a hint!) Once they tap the correct picture, invite the whole class to sing and act out the verse together. Keep the fun going by repeating the game with different verses and giving more students a chance to use the magic wand! If you teach older students, let them take turns being the teacher and singing and acting out versus for their classmates! |
3. Charades: 15 minutes
Want to make Charades exciting and a great learning tool? Here’s how to turn it into an unforgettable game that will have your students singing, laughing, and learning! You’ll use the song "Las Ruedas del Camión" to boost the fun. Start by practicing some of the song’s actions with your students. Then, take turns acting out a verse from the song using only gestures—no talking allowed! The class has to guess which verse it is by singing it aloud in Spanish. This twist makes Charades not only entertaining but also helps your students memorize the entire song!
With each round, the energy builds as everyone tries to match the actions to the lyrics. It’s the perfect mix of movement, music, and learning! Plus, by acting out the verses, students will feel like they’re part of the story, making the song more memorable. So, get ready to laugh, guess, and sing your way through Charades. This game will keep everyone on their toes while making learning Spanish tons of fun! |
4. Color by numbers!: 15 minutes
Materials Needed: Print the the coloring sheet below making enough copies for your students.
Your students will love this fun color-by-number activity! While they’re coloring, practice saying the colors and numbers in Spanish together. You can also challenge them to point out and name these key words from the digital lesson:
- el camión – the bus
- las ruedas – the wheels
- las puertas – the doors
- la gente – the people
SHARE YOUR DSA STORY!
Every time we get your WINS AND SUCCESSES in our inbox, we can’t help but do a little happy dance — to "Don't Stop Believing" or "La Bamba" of course!
Why? Because success doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Your wins are our wins, and they’re proof for others that when you do the work, you get results.
Whether your students are finally beginning to repeat or sing in Spanish along with the digital lessons, or say words in Spanish during the day, or teachers are feeling more confident carrying out the Easy Review Activities, or parents are sharing that their child is speaking Spanish at home — we want to hear your wins BIG and small!
Celebrating you always,
Theresa & Team HOLA
