september Week 3: EASY breezy review:
You're all set to dive into some fun review activities to brush up on the Spanish vocab that was introduced in the digital lesson! Even if you don’t know a word of Spanish, you can confidently teach fun and easy Spanish review activities to your students! You'll be amazed at how quickly you and your students pick up new vocabulary and phrases, all while having a great time. So dive in and enjoy the journey of teaching Spanish with ease and enthusiasm! Depending on your schedule this week, you could roll out one, two, or all three of these engaging review activities. Let the language adventure begin!
1: Game: Magician of feelings: 10 minutes
Materials Needed: Print two copies of the ¿Cómo estás? poster below and display one copy on your Spanish bulletin board. Have the other copy handy for this activity.
Before playing the game, warm your students up by playing Audio File 9 (How are you?) while showing your students the poster above. The chart below the audio file is your handy "cheat sheet" to help you pronounce the Spanish words perfectly. Feel free to peek at it as much as you need—but I bet you'll be saying the words without even looking in no time!
Now that you've learned how to say the "How are you" expressions, it time to turn this activity into an exciting game your students will love! First, tell them you’ve got a magic wand that can read feelings, and it’s going to help everyone practice Spanish in a fun, magical way. Explain that when you gently tap them on the head with the wand, they’ll have to say in Spanish how they’re feeling. Their choices are "bien," "más o menos," or "mal." But that’s not all—tell them they have to show how they feel with big, bold facial expressions and dramatic body movements! The sillier, the better!
Once everyone has had their turn, it’s time to pass the magic wand to a new Magician of Feelings! The student in charge now gets to tap their classmates on the head and ask, "¿Cómo estás?" in Spanish, picking who will answer next. Encourage the Magician to keep the fun going by making sure everyone is using their most creative expressions. —this is a game full of laughter and fun!

2. Slideshow guessing fun!: 5 minutes
Now, to add an extra layer of excitement, tell your students that it’s time to play two slideshows! Show them the slideshows below that show kids displaying emotions, and see if they can guess how the kids in the pictures are feeling—in Spanish, of course! Ask them to shout out if the kids look "bien," "más o menos," or "mal," and cheer them on for every correct answer. Keep the energy high with lots of encouragement and claps for their effort and creativity. By the end, your classroom will be full of laughter, movement, and some awesome Spanish skills!

3. draw the emotions!: 5 minutes
Download and print this fun worksheet for your students! They’ll love drawing and finishing the faces while practicing their Spanish by copying the feeling words on the lines. Once they’ve completed their masterpieces, encourage them to take them home and proudly share their work with their family. Practice saying how you feel in Spanish every day—it’s a great way to keep your new skills fresh and exciting!
SHARE YOUR DSA STORY!
Every time we get your WINS AND SUCCESSES in our inbox, we can’t help but do a little happy dance — to "Don't Stop Believing" or "La Bamba" of course!
Why? Because success doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Your wins are our wins, and they’re proof for others that when you do the work, you get results.
Whether your students are finally beginning to repeat or sing in Spanish along with the digital lessons, or say words in Spanish during the day, or teachers are feeling more confident carrying out the Easy Review Activities, or parents are sharing that their child is speaking Spanish at home — we want to hear your wins BIG and small!
Celebrating you always,
Theresa & Team HOLA
