Dear Moms & Dads,
It is so easy to practice Spanish at home if your children are learning Spanish at their childcare or school with Spanish by the Month curriculum. See the following to help you during the month of November!
Practice counting from 1-12 in Spanish. Chances are your child already knows how to count to 12 and can help you! Using the pronunciation key, be sure to stress the syllables that are underlined and in bold. Play the track below and sing the numbers out loud! Find anything in your home to count like crayons, markers, books, toys, pictures in books, cereal etc. Once your kids master 1-12, count backwards!
1-uno (oo-no) 7-siete (see-eh-teh)
2-dos (dohs) 8-ocho (oh-choh)
3-tres (trace) 9-nuevo (new-eh-bay)
4-cuatro (kwah-troh) 10-diez (dee-ace)
5-cinco (sink-oh) 11-once (own-say)
6-seis (say-ees) 12-doce (doe-say)
Practice saying the following foods with your child. The Spanish word and pronunciation will appear as you hover over the each picture. Then take turns asking and telling if you like each food or not.
Practice how to say the following dishes in Spanish! Click on the picture to see the word and pronunciation and play the track below the pictures for a "mini-lesson" on saying the words out loud!
Check out the link to "Spanish In November" in the Bookstore for a free download of the song and the song lyrics called "La Mesa" (The Table). You and your family can set the table to the beautiful and very practical song! You can choose that "mom" sings the song or that "dad" sings the song!
