If your child is learning Spanish at their child care center with Spanish by the Month lessons and CDs it is important that you know what your child is learning, so every month we will post the vocabulary on this blog. We will also include some tips on how you can practice Spanish at home!
Below are the Halloween vocabulary words that your child will learn in October. Under each picture is the word in English, Spanish and phonetic spelling. (If you read the phonetic spelling as though you are reading English, your pronunciation will be pretty good.)
Parents if you want to practice the Halloween words with your child, point to the pictures and say the words while your child listens. The second time through, encourage your child to say the words with you. Then see if your child can say the words on their own as you point to them. Help them if they need it. It will take some repetition before they know the words by heart! If you see these items in stores this month, point to them and say them aloud with your child. You may have complete strangers amazed at your ability to speak Spanish with your child!
You can point to the picture or real object and ask your child
"¿Como se llama?" "What is it called?" pronounced (¿Co-moh say yah-nah?
Your child can respond in Spanish so you can carry out this short activity all in your second language. Very impressive!
To help you, play the sound track below!
