Dear Parents,
In Spanish class during the month of October we will learn to compliment others, say vocabulary words related to Halloween such as the names of typical costumes and how to say; "Trick-or-Treat". We'll also learn the song "Itsy, Bitsy Spider". Other themes that we may cover this month are "The Family" "Numbers" and "Classroom Objects." See below for ways you can reinforce the Spanish in October vocabulary at home.
Halloween Vocabulary
October is the ideal month to learn words like pumpkin, bat, spider, candy, and "Happy Halloween". Click on the pictures below. They will get larger when you click on them and you will see how the words are written and pronounced. You can also play the audio file for some fun Halloween sound effects and also to hear how the words are pronounced so you can practice them correctly with your children.
"Trick or Treat"
In class we will role-play "Trick-or-Treating" in Spanish, of course. Listen to the audio file below so that you can role-play trick-or-treating in Spanish at home too!
I hope you are having a wonderful
time practicing Spanish!
The Itsy Bitsy Spider Song
The audio track below walks you through exactly how to teach, act out and sing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" song in Spanish with your children. See the lyrics below for help. After practicing the song you have the option to download a version of the song from iTunes for just $.99 cents. Or you can listen to it on your Spotify or Amazon Music account. For directions on how to do this, see the note to the right of the lyrics.
The Family
If you want to practice saying the names of family members, listen to this audio file together as a family. Then draw a picture of your family with your child and practice naming the family members in Spanish. Or look at pictures of your family and name their relationship to you and your child in Spanish.
