Thank you for the wonderful and exciting opportunity to teach Spanish to your child! In Spanish class this month we will teach a variety of the following activities. You can use this newsletter to review Spanish at home with your child if you like, even if you have never studied Spanish before. Simple play the audio files and read the pronunciation keys. They will help you!

Colors
Children love learning colors in Spanish because they are good at colors in English. Their ability to learn colors naturally transfers to their second language See the color flashcards and pronunciation key below. Click on each page of colors and it will increase in size.
Play a color game with your child. Call out a color and the rest of your family has to race to touch something of that color in the room. Then let you child call out a color and parents and siblings race to touch something of that color in the room.
Everyday, name the colors of the clothes you and your children are wearing in Spanish. At story time, name the colors in the book you read together in English and in Spanish. By practicing colors in Spanish at school and at home, your child will master how colors in Spanish!

Picnic Foods
Kids in general love the foods pictured in the slideshow belo and July is a time of year when these food are common. What a perfect time to learn picnic vocabulary in Spanish! Play the slide show and practice saying the foods in Spanish with your child. When you eat these foods, say their names in Spanish together. If you are at a picnic with friends, teach them how to say the words in Spanish too!
Mind Your Manners :-)
The following is language you can use with your children everyday, even several times a day, creating a Spanish immersion environment in your home during mealtimes. Before you know it, you will say these phrases in Spanish before English because it will become so natural. Get ready for some onlookers and admirers if you use these phrases when eating in public places! Play the audio file to help you.
