 JANUARY Week 1: EASY Review ACTIVITIES

Hey there, teachers!
We're providing you up with some easy activities to help you review what you watched and learned with your students by watching the Digital Lesson. The following review activities are completely optional, pick and choose as you please. If time is tight, just make sure you show your students some of the digital lesson and you'll still be a Spanish-teaching hero! 

1. classroom Rules (10 minutes)

I begin every Spanish class by reviewing two or three of the rules in the table and on the poster below and I suggest you do the same.  When you're just starting out, play the audio track to get the hang of things.  Track 1 is a longer version of the rules and Track 2 is a shorter version. Once you're a few classes in, switch to Track 2 for a speedy refresher. Before you know it, you'll have these rules down pat and be able to breeze through a few of them at the start of every class! Be sure that you and your students act out each of the rules as the audio track teaches them. The first rule which has the most words is highlighted below.

I ALWAYS begin Spanish class with the first rule to ensure my students are sitting nicely and ready to learn. I encourage you to do the same. Tell your students that the first rule; "Siéntense y mírenme. Manos así. translates into English as "Criss-Cross, Apple Sauce" or literally it's: “Sit down and look at me. Hands like this.” (Model that their hands should be folded in their lap.) Typically, children cross their legs like the boy in the picture to the right but you can decide if that is required in your class, or if they can sit anyway they want, just so their legs or knees aren't touching another child. Every time your class says "Siéntense y mírenme. Manos así," everyone should do the actions in the yellow poster below. The audio track will guide you. 

2. Compliments (10 minutes)

Transform your classroom into a hub of positivity with this Compliment Poster! The audio track included helps teach the compliments in a catchy and fun way. Afterward, engage with your students by calling on them and asking which compliment they'd like to receive from the class. Students will light up when the entire class sings their chosen compliment. It's a heartwarming experience that will leave everyone feeling good.
