Hola Parents,

As your child's Spanish teacher(s), our goal every class is to make Spanish a super fun and positive experience! To do this we incorporate a variety of "Spanish-speaking" puppets, songs, catchy chants, games and role play! In January, some of the vocabulary themes your child will learn include:

Compliments
Numbers 1-40
Frosty the Snowman
The head: ears, eyes, nose, mouth

Happy Birthday

Would you like to practice the Spanish your child is learning at school but you don't know how? The following activities will help you:

Numbers 1-10

In January we are practicing numbers. Play the audio file below while pointing to the numbers on the handout. Practice counting to ten with your children everyday!

Here are the compliments that are part of our January curriculum. Listen to the audio file with your children at home. Pay each other these compliments in Spanish at home!

Face and Head Vocabulary

Your child is learning how to say the names of his/her head and face. Play the slideshow and see how to say the words in Spanish. The Spanish translation and pronunciation is printed on each picture. Then play the song and with your child, touch the parts of your head and face that the song says. Make it more fun and play the song again but this time you touch your child's head and face and they touch yours :) The lyrics to the song and the audio file are below.

The Weather

Depending on time, your child might get to learn the following weather expressions.

It is sunny: Hace sol. (Ah-seh sol).
It's cloudy: Está nublado. (Eh-stah nu-blah-doh.)
It is snowing. (Está nevando. (Eh-stah neh-bon-doh.)
It is raining. (Está lloviendo. (Eh-stah yo-bee-ehn-doh).
